The North Jetty Pockets
The pockets are the attachment points between the structure of the walkway of the North Jetty and the main body of Birnbeck Island. Currently the failure of the island-end of the structure has resulted in the walkway being pulled completely off its bearings (the technical term for the load-carrying end supports) and out of the pockets. The following photographs show this damage. The pockets themselves are relatively undamaged.
